Our World Is Changing—Are New Jersey’s High Schools Changing With It?
--Statewide meetings for educators scheduled to discuss the future of New Jersey’s high schools
WHAT: The New Jersey High School Redesign Steering Committee, composed of the leadership of New Jersey’s major education organizations, will begin a statewide conversation on high school reform throughout New Jersey. To begin this conversation, the Committee has scheduled a series of meetings exclusively for teachers, administrators, and other school personnel to take place this fall. At each meeting, a variety of topics relating to the future of New Jersey’s high schools will be discussed. These topics include globalization and technological advances, required skills for students entering the workforce or going on to further education, how New Jersey students measure up, and action steps to improve the quality of the high school experience for our state’s students.
The Committee will use attendee feedback from these meetings to create a white paper with recommendations to present to education policy and decision makers. A second set of open-to-the-public meetings for parents, students, community members, and other educational stakeholders will take place in early December.
