Summit swim-a-thon earns over $16,000 for Sunshine Kids
“Swim for the Cause” a huge success

SUMMIT, NJ (November 28, 2007) – Through its annual swim-a-thon, Prudential New Jersey Properties raised over $16,000 to benefit the Sunshine Kids Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to bringing positive group activities for young cancer patients across North America.

“Swim for the Cause”, organized by Diane Riley and Kim Crites-Carloto of the Summit office, surpassed its original goal of $10,000 with the help of over 30 participating swimmers at the Summit Area YMCA.

“The overwhelming support we received from the community made this event truly successful,” said Carloto, Prudential New Jersey Properties office manager. “Thanks to our donors, the Sunshine Kids will be able to continue its incredible work.”

Locally-recognized swimmer Angelika Miles raised over $11,600 for the fund-raising event with the assistance of a matching sponsor. Miles currently swims for the Summit’s Elite Swim Club.

“It was exceptional to have so many young people volunteer their time to swim and raise awareness for this organization,” said Riley. “Their extraordinary efforts helped us to raise more than we expected.”

Swimmers solicited family, friends, neighbors, and teachers to pledge money per lap for the Oct. 6 event. For their hard work, participants were rewarded with games, relays, event momentos, prizes, and other fun activities.

As the foundation of choice for Prudential New Jersey Properties affiliates nationwide, The Sunshine Kids organization received more than $2.3 million from fund-raising efforts throughout the affiliate network in 2006.

Donors still interested in contributing should contact Diane Riley or Kim Crites-Carloto, Prudential New Jersey Properties, at 908.273.0400 or stop by the Summit office.

Metuchen REALTOR® featured in Stop & Shop’s latest commercial
Local realtor becomes celebrity from documentary style campaign

METUCHEN, NJ (November 14, 2007) – Maggy Cook has become a local celebrity.

Along with her entire family, the Metuchen resident was recently filmed in a regional commercial for Stop & Shop Supermarket Company. The commercial is a part of an ongoing campaign based on the stories of “real people” who shop at the New England-based supermarket chain.

“People ask all the time if I’m ‘that lady from the commercial’,” says Cook. “It has definitely been an interesting experience.”

In the commercial, Cook explains to viewers why she purchases groceries at Stop & Shop, rather than other supermarkets, over clips of her at home with family and at Prudential New Jersey Properties’ Metuchen office, where she been a realtor associate for the past three years.

Cook’s husband, Dan, a commercial actor, was in New York City for an audition when he saw a sign asking for “real people” to participate in Stop & Shop commercials. After showing casting agents a picture of his wife, they requested an audition with her. The next day, Cook met with the casting company and then Doug Pray, a renowned documentary filmmaker who directs the campaign’s commercials.

Representatives from Stop & Shop and Pray later visited Cook at her Middlesex County home to see her “in action” around the house. A few days later, they asked Cook if she’d like to star in its latest commercial.

“It is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be chosen to participate in a commercial, especially since I am not in the acting profession,” says Cook. “I was really excited, and nervous, at the same time.”

Over 50 people, including Stop & Shop executives, came to Cook’s home and office to oversee production on the documentary-styled commercial, currently being aired throughout New Jersey. The television spot can also be viewed at Stop & Shop’s “micro site” – www.shopandshop.tv – where shoppers are encouraged to post their own experiences through video and blog.

Cook believes her family dynamic led casting agents and executives to choose her story. Just recently, her mother moved into her home with Cook’s husband and two teenage children.

“My situation is representative of many working women,” says Cook. “I take care of my mother and children, and also have a full-time career as a real estate professional.”

According to Prudential New Jersey Properties’ Metuchen office manager Dottie Winhold, Cook does an excellent job of creating a balance.

“Her compassionate attitude has not only made her a terrific mother, wife, and daughter, but also a diligent sales associate who strives to get the best for her clients,” says Winhold. “She is truly an asset, to both this office and her family.”
