Franklin Township recognized as one of the ‘Best Places to Live’ by Money Magazine
Somerset County township identified for its historic beauty and untouched wilderness
HILLSBOROUGH, NJ (July 30, 2008) – Money Magazine has included Franklin Township, NJ – noted for its scenic beauty and open spaces – on its annual “Best Places to Live” list.
The magazine compares small cities and towns across the country, and bases its renowned list on variety of factors, including financial and career opportunities, educational offerings, entertainment venues, and overall quality of life.
“Franklin Township offers residents an excellent school system, and great prices on starter homes, which makes it an excellent place to begin a family,” says Donna Perk, manager of Prudential New Jersey Properties’ Hillsborough office, who works with real estate in Franklin Township. “Residents take pride in the township’s role in our nation’s history.”
Franklin Township played a leading part in the Revolutionary War as many raids took place on Kings Highway – now known as Route 27. The township’s rich history also revolves around the Delaware-Raritan Canal, which provided an efficient means of freight transport between Philadelphia and New York City until the mid-1930s. Today, most of the canal area has been designated as a state park and provides recreational activities, such as canoeing, kayaking, and fishing.
“Franklin Township is just an hour commute to Manhattan and has access to New Jersey Transit train stations at Bridgewater, Bound Brook, and New Brunswick, “ says Perk, “Several major employers are also in the neighborhood, including Rutgers University, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, and Sanofi-Aventis.”
Franklin Township is approximately 46-square miles and has 11 distinct communities within its borders – East Millstone, Franklin Park, Griggstown, Kingston, Middlebuch, Pleasant Plains, Six Mile Run, Somerset, Ten Mile Run, Weston, and Zarephath.
Information on home buying and selling in the Franklin Township-area, access to all real estate-related services, and details about a career in real estate are available by contacting Perk at the Hillsborough office, 408 Route 206 South, 908-874-3400.
